Four tremors of up to 3.6 magnitude recorded in Nashik district

No casualties or damage were reported after a series of mild tremors struck Surgana taluka, even as heavy rainfall eased across the district.

Nashik:Four tremors measuring up to 3.6 magnitude were recorded in Maharashtra’s Nashik district on Saturday, officials said.

The tremors were felt in the Borgaon area of Surgana taluka, they said. The region has also been battered by torrential downpours, recording a rainfall of 164.5 mm in 24 hours.

There have been no reports of injuries or property damage, officials said.

The tehsildar of the area will conduct an inspection and submit a detailed report, said a senior official.

Meanwhile, the intensity of rains has eased in the district. While the discharge of water from Gangapur dam into Godavari river has decreased, it is continuing, said officials. However, the discharge of water from the Gautami-Godavari dam has increased owing to rains in the catchment areas, they said.
